The "Super-Rod" Truss Rod Neck Assembly

With a Structural Engineering background it was inevitable that detailed, highly advanced analysis was to enter into the guitar building strategy of Schenk Guitars. The first and foremost point of scrutiny was the truss rod.

Despite popular misconception, the neck stiffness characteristics are more important to the overall sound, tone and sustain of the guitar - even more important than soundboard bracing.

Although the analysis is complicated the basic idea is not.  An ultra stiff neck provides a rigid gateway for string energy to transfer into the soundboard. A neck that lacks stiffness acts as a shock absorber, therefore dampening the string's energy and producing less sound and even less sustain.

The answer to the problem is our state-of-the-art system.  Not only did we design a proprietary truss rod but we also have the technology to analyze it in composite action with the neck mahogany and ebony fingerboard.  All in all producing the stiffest neck assembly on the planet.  Not only that, but the dynamic functionality of the system is worlds finer than any other.  The micro-adjustability is unmatched in adjusting action and setting neck relief.

Machined from solid billet steel our truss rod raw cost is over 10 times that of our best competitors. Just because you don't see it, doesn't mean it is not important! Quite the opposite.  Unlike all the others, we don't spare expense just because you can't see it!
